Children's Summer Reading Program

The 2014 Children's Summer Reading Program, “Fizz, Boom, Read”, will be offered by public libraries throughout the state.

Children participating in the summer reading program may participate by reading books throughout the summer and attending library programs. The goal is to foster self-confidence and create lifelong readers.  Families are encouraged to check with their local public library to learn about the specific incentives and programs available in their community.  The 2014 children’s artwork was created by Illustrator Scott Nash.

Upcoming Slogans: The 2015 children’s slogan is “Every Hero Has a Story”. The 2016 Overall theme is Health and Fitness.

Teen Summer Reading Program

The 2014 Teen Summer Reading Program, “Spark a Reaction”, will be offered by public libraries throughout the state.
Teens may participate by reading books throughout the summer and attending library programs.  The goal of the Teen Summer Reading Program is to offer a variety of activities to draw teens into the library, encourage them to continue reading over the summer, and to cultivate a love of reading in Louisiana’s next generation. Families are encouraged to check with their local public library to learn about specific incentives and programs available for teens in their community. This year’s original teen artwork was created by Duncan Long.

The 2015 teen slogan will be “Unmask”. The overall summer reading theme for 2016 will be Health and Fitness.

Adult Summer Reading Program

The 2014 Adult Summer Reading Program slogan is “Literary Elements”.

Participating libraries will encourage adults to involve themselves by reading books throughout the summer and attending library programs.  Check with your local public library to learn the specific incentives and library programs available for adults in your community.

The 2015 Adult Summer Reading Program slogan will be “Escape the Ordinary”. The 2016 overall theme will be health and fitness.
