Salary:               $19.75 per hour        ($35,945.00 per year)

Status:             Full-time    (35 hours per week)

Tangipahoa Parish Library is seeking a creative, energetic, and service-oriented individual to serve as the branch manager at the Amite Branch Library. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively apply the principles and practices of librarianship and have a strong desire to serve a diverse community.

The Librarian answers difficult reference questions; reviews and suggests books and non-print materials; oversees adult, teen, and children's programs; develops exhibits, booklists and promotional materials; attends community and professional meetings; participates in library public relations and outreach activities; assists in designing and implementing library and information services; provides supervision to assigned library staff; is responsible for management of the physical plant of the Amite Branch (approximately 21,000 square feet).

The Tangipahoa Parish Library system consists of the main library in Amite, as well as five other branch libraries. The successful applicant will have experience supervising others and possess a Master of Library Science Degree from an accredited Library School. Work experience in a public library is strongly desired.
