THE POSITION

EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE LIBRARY DEPARTMENT AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.

KIND OF WORK

Performs professional level managerial and supervisory work in developing and implementing a strategic fundraising plan to generate activities in support of the library. Identifies, cultivates, and solicits grants and contributions from government agencies, foundations, businesses, corporations, and individual donors for capital projects and library operations. Serves as liaison to a library foundation which will be established to help generate revenues for the library. Manages and participates in all special event fundraising activities including the solicitation of vendors, entertainment, and auction items and the oversight of volunteers. Researches and identifies grant opportunities and supervises a professional grant writer. Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO EXAMINATION

Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field; PLUS, at least three (3) years of verifiable, paid work experience in the planning, development, and administering a fundraising and grant development campaign.

OR

Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; PLUS, at least five (5) years of verifiable, paid work experience in the planning, development, and administering of a fundraising and grant development campaign.

OR

Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent; PLUS, at least seven (7) years of verifiable, paid work experience in the planning, development, and administering of a fundraising and grant development campaign.

PREFERRED: Marketing experience in promoting libraries or other non-profit organizations, certification as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and experience with Raisers Edge or similar software.

All applicants must posses a current Louisiana driver's license* and an acceptable driving record.

*NOTE: A valid driver's license issued by a state other than Louisiana is acceptable for application; however, once an employment offer is extended, an applicant has ten (10) days to obtain the required Louisiana license. Failure to obtain a Louisiana license will disqualify an applicant for permanent employment in this position.

KIND OF EXAMINATION

The examination will consists of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral interview or any combination thereof deemed necessary to adequately screen and rank applicants. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their previous training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers, and the dates of employment.
