THE POSITION
EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE LIBRARY DEPARTMENT AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.
KIND OF WORK
Under direction of the Library Director, performs professional level managerial and supervisory work in the overall planning, organization, execution, and evaluation of a comprehensive marketing, public relations, community relations, communications, development, and fundraising program for the library. Works closely with a library foundation which will be established to help generate revenues for the library. Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO EXAMINATION
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or closely related curriculum; PLUS, at least five (5) years of verifiable, paid work experience in fundraising, special event management, and planned giving and philanthropy with one year of such experience having been in a supervisory capacity.
OR
Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent; PLUS, at least nine (9) years of verifiable, paid work experience in fundraising, special event management, and planned giving and philanthropy with one year of such experience having been in a supervisory capacity.
All applicants must possess a current Louisiana driver's license* and an acceptable driving record.
*NOTE: A valid driver's license issued by a state other than Louisiana is acceptable for application; however, once an employment offer is extended, an applicant has ten (10) days to obtain the required Louisiana license. Failure to obtain a Louisiana license will disqualify an applicant for permanent employment in this position.
PREFERRED: Marketing experience in promoting libraries or other non-profit organizations, certification as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), and experience with Raisers Edge or similar software.
KIND OF EXAMINATION

The examination will consists of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral interview or any combination thereof deemed necessary to adequately screen and rank applicants. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their previous training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers, and the dates of employment. The information is subject to verification. The Personnel Department reserves the right to determine the quality and quantity of education and experience.
