Assistant Professor of Library Science & Head of Cataloging, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Lafayette, LA
Reports to Assistant Dean of Technical, Web and IT Services and has responsibility for planning and coordinating cataloging of library materials in all formats; performs original cataloging, subject analysis, classification of resources using MARC or non-MARC metadata standards; maintains quality control of Library's online catalog; manages and develops support staff. Participates in scholarship and provides service to University and community. Library liaison for collection development. Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and staff.
Qualifications: MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program; second master's degree in appropriate subject desirable. Must be self-motivated, service oriented, and able to work successfully in collegial environment. Cataloging experience in an academic library and familiarity with SirsiDynix system, LC authority files, MARC formats and cataloging procedures required. Administrative and supervisory experience highly desirable.
Tenure track appointment at rank of assistant or associate professor. Start date negotiable but anticipated to January 1, 2014. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Faculty, rank, status and benefits.
