JOB OPENING: Children’s Librarian (Gonzales Branch)
RESPONSIBILITIES: Ascension Parish Library is looking for an enthusiastic person, who enjoys working with children and young adults for the Children’s Librarian position at the Gonzales branch. This position is responsible for coordinating and supervising youth services activities at the branch, including programs, school visits, summer reading programs, projects, etc.
This position also provides reader’s advisory for children, teens, and parents, assists patrons in finding and using library resources, and maintains materials in the branch’s children’s and juvenile collections as necessary.
The applicant should have a good working knowledge of children's literature or willingness to learn, strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to excellent customer service. The applicant should also be highly organized, have the ability to meet deadlines and have excellent verbal and writing skills. This position will work closely with the Branch Librarian and Youth Services Librarian to coordinate programming activities.
QUALIFICATION: A master's degree in library and information science from an ALA accredited library school is required.
SALARY: $38,500 +, dependent upon experience.
