West Carroll Parish Library (LA) Public Library System
West Carroll Parish Library (WCPL) serves a population of 12,000 with its library in Oak Grove. WCPL’s budget for operations and collections exceeds $200,000. Circulation for 2008 was more than 50,000 (collection of 20,000+ items). WCPL has a staff of six.
The Director reports to a six member Board of Control, made up of five appointed members and one ex-officio member. Position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, proven fiscal knowledge, an understanding of current library technologies and trends, and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Board, administrators, supervisors, employees, parish officials and departments, communities, organizations, and the public.
Candidate must have MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program plus 1 year of post-MLS library experience. Must have certification (or be able to attain certification within first year of employment) by the Louisiana State Board of Library Examiners. Salary is $28,000 plus comprehensive benefits package.
