Responsibilities:
The Yazoo Library Association Board of Control seeks an experienced leader that is enthusiastic, innovative and public service oriented to serve as their new Library Director. The Director supervises a staff of 4 FTE’s, a collection of rare museum quality items as well as new and traditional materials and an annual budget of $300,000. This highly responsible position reports directly to a seven member Board of Trustees.
The Yazoo Library Association Director maintains contact with city and county officials, preserves a positive relationship with the local community and local media, administers library policy, is responsible for grant writing and administration, e-rate applications, and local, state, and federal reporting. This position supervises computer system administration and building maintenance and repair. Travel to conferences is required.
Requirements: An ALA accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science, strong communication skills and two (2) years of public library experience. Experience with library technology is essential. Candidates with demonstrated superior administration and management experience will be given first priority.
Salary & Benefits: Beginning salary range is $40,000-45,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Other benefits include 18 days of personal leave time, 11 paid holidays, paid sick leave, and participation in the state retirement system. All but a small portion of health and life insurance plan is paid for the employee. ALA and MLA dues are paid.
Available: October 11, 2011. The Yazoo Library Association Board of Trustees would prefer a two-week overlap with the current director.
