Non-Tenure Track position—Evening Library Manager
Xavier University of Louisiana, a Catholic, historically black university seeks a qualified candidate for the post of Evening Library Manager
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Access Services, primary responsibilities are provision of reference assistance and supervision of circulation, reserve, and technology while managing the Library Resource Center’s facilities during the evening hours from Sunsay through Thursday. Other responsibilities include the scheduling, training, supervision, and mentoring of student employees who work in various library departments during evening hours.
Qualifications
An ALA-accredited Master’s Degree and at least three years experience in an academic library public services department are required. Other qualifications include: 1) understanding of library services, operations, and assessment, 2) knowledge of best practices and current trends, 3) excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills, 4) strong motivational skills and clear evidence of an ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with faculty, staff, students, and others, 5) strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, 6) supervisory experience with strong commitment to team-based work, 7) a high degree of accuracy in complex, detailed work. 8) the ability to effectively handle emergency situations in the absence of Library leadership and report problems to designated staff and University police when necessary.
Salary, benefits
Librarians have 12-month, non-tenure track appointment. Benefits include 20 days of annual leave and 11 paid holidays. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
