Job Description
Tulane University Law Library is accepting applications for the position of Foreign, Comparative, & International Law/Reference Librarian. The Library's primary mission is to serve the educational and research needs of the faculty, students and staff of Tulane University Law School, but also supports the research needs of the Tulane University community at large, law school alumni/ae, patrons using the Federal and Louisiana Depository Collections, and students and faculty from other academic institutions with whom the Law Library has reciprocal agreements. This position provides a unique opportunity to a person motivated to be part of service-oriented team.
Responsibilities:
The Foreign, Comparative, and International Law/Reference Librarian generally serves as a reference librarian, focusing on providing reference assistance, research guides, bibliographies, and instructional materials related specifically to foreign, comparative, and international law. The person in this position assists with collection development in FCIL materials, regardless of format, and works with faculty and students connected to FCIL through coursework, research interests, or journal or moot court participation. This position may be required to offer general introductory lectures in FCIL research skills during research classes and other courses at the Law School.
The Foreign, Comparative, and International Law/Reference Librarian also provides reference and specialized research services to law school faculty, staff, students, the practicing bar and the community, and proactively supports the research and teaching interests of several professors through the Library Faculty Liaison program. The successful candidate participates in library committee work and user instruction; and develops and maintains web based instructional materials, tutorials, and/or guides to legal research, and performs other duties as assigned.

Salary and Benefits:
The salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Standard university benefits package includes 22 days of annual leave, 12 days of annual sick leave, and a choice of retirement and health care plans. The library pays dues for AALL and for the regional and local chapters.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
J.D. from an ABA accredited school (or foreign equivalent); M.L.S. from an ALA-accredited school; excellent communication skills; a commitment to high quality public service; a fundamental knowledge of Anglo American legal research tools and strategies, as well as both civil law and common law legal systems, and international organizations.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year or more of professional library experience (preferably law library experience); reading/speaking knowledge and comprehension of one or more languages (preferably French, Spanish or German); and knowledge of a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Office, online research tools, and web applications.
