The Tangipahoa Parish Library is seeking a creative, energetic, and service oriented individual to serve as the branch manager at the Amite Branch Library. The ideal candidate will have the ability to effectively apply the principles and practices of librarianship and have a strong desire to serve a diverse community.
The Librarian answers difficult reference questions; reviews and suggests books and non-print materials; oversees adult, teen, and children's programs; develops exhibits, booklists and promotional materials; attends community and professional meetings; participates in library public relations and outreach activities; assists in designing and implementing library and information services; provides supervision to assigned library staff; is responsible for management of the physcial plant of the Amite Branch (approximately 13,000 square feet). A new 21,000 square foot facility will open in 2012.
The Tangipahoa Parish Library system consists of a main library – Amite Branch – five other branch libraries and an Administration/Genealogy Building. The successful applicant must possess a Masters Degree in Library Science from an accredited Library School. Work experience in a public library is highly desired.
