Tangipahoa Parish Library is seeking a creative, energetic, and service-oriented individual to serve as the branch manager at the Hammond Branch Library. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively apply the principles and practices of librarianship and have a strong desire to serve a diverse community.
The Librarian answers difficult reference questions; reviews and suggests books and non-print materials; oversees adult, teen, and children's programs; develops exhibits, booklists and promotional materials; attends community and professional meetings; participates in library public relations and outreach activities; assists in designing and implementing library and information services; provides supervision to assigned library staff; is responsible for management of the physical plant of the Hammond Branch (approximately 16,000 square feet).
The Tangipahoa Parish Library system consists of a main library – Amite Branch – five other branch libraries and an Administration/Genealogy Building. The successful applicant will have experience supervising others and possess a Master of Library Science Degree from an accredited Library School. Work experience in a public library is strongly desired.
