(Acquisitions and Cataloging)
School of Veterinary Medicine Library
Under the general supervision of the Head of Technical Services, the Acquisitions and Cataloging Library Associate is responsible for the acquisition of print and audio-visual materials for the library, assigning call numbers for access by patrons and maintaining accurate statistics of the collection. The associate maintains the acquisitions budget, processes invoices and assists the Library Director in collection development; performs reference and circulation help at the library front desk during the week including one evening per week and one Sunday per month. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; one year of related library experience or relevant work experience; oral and written communication skills; attention to detail; demonstrated budget management skills. Additional Qualifications Desired: Ability to learn library policy and procedures with a brief learning period and the ability to work successfully in a dynamic collegial environment with a diverse population; working knowledge of Excel, Access and Word; experience with library acquisitions and cataloging procedures; familiarity with Library of Congress and the National Library of Medicine classification schemes.
