POSITION: Library Director
DESCRIPTION: The West Feliciana Parish Library Board of Control is seeking applicants for library director. The director reports to the library board and is responsible for all areas of public library administration. This includes, but is not limited to: supervision of all employees; public relations; grant writing; liaison with local government, educational, and community groups; financial management; collection development; programming internet usage; and facilities management. The director must also coordinate and develop long range plans, policies, and procedures for the library system.
West Feliciana Parish is located approximately 25 miles north of Baton Rouge and is comprised of a small town as well as small rural unincorporated communities. It serves a population of approximately 15,000 with one main library and a staff of six.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED-
- Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or Master of Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution
- Professional certification (or current eligibility for certification) by the Louisiana State Board of Library Examiners
- Ability to express ideas clearly, a sense of vision, good interpersonal skills, analytical knowledge to assimilate statistical and financial reports, ability to formulate programs and services to meet the needs of the community
- Experience in library management to include collection development, fiscal management, and electronic resources
- Experience with grant writing
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
