Job Description
Position: Programming Coordinator
Reports to: Director
Responsibilities:
• Oversees all aspects of public programming, exhibitions, and special events including planning, implementations, and logistics
• Actively seeks exhibitions and displays and funding for them
• Writes grants to acquire funding; manages grants received including all reports
• Works closely with staff, Friends of the Library, volunteers, and outside vendors as they relate to programs, exhibitions, and event planning and execution
• Schedules and conducts site visits by prospective clients; organizes, coordinates, and executes library and corporate events
• Manages internal communications necessary for execution of events such as work orders, budget reports, activity reports, and statistical reports
• Generates and distributes library calendars in a variety of formats
• Produces flyers, posters, postcards, signage, and press releases for programming
• Oversees and sometimes assists with setting up and taking down room set-ups, including sound and av equipment; adjusts lighting and ac as necessary
• Schedules and may supervise maintenance, janitorial, and security staff
• Creates volunteer base; schedules and supervises volunteers
• Oversees and sets up refreshments for library programs, including art receptions and water/coffee for paying Events Center clients
• Performs other duties as required and assigned

• Knowledge of media relations and marketing
• Ability to learn and use graphic software and scheduling software with high degree of proficiency
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
Qualifications:
• College degree required, with library degree preferred
• Experience working with library programming required
• Excellent computer skills
• Successful grant writing experience
• Supervision experience required
Tools and Equipment Used:
• Personal computer, printer, software programs, calculator, telephone, copier, fax, audio-visual equipment, sound equipment, hammer, screw driver, pliers, ladder, saw, drill, step stool, debit/credit card machine, postage meter, photo hanging system, easels, pedestals, display cabinets
License and Certification Requirements:
• Must have a valid Louisiana State Driver’s License
