JOB OPENING: Youth Services Librarian
RESPONSIBILITIES: Are you creative, energetic, and love children? Ascension Parish Library is looking for an enthusiastic person, who enjoys working with children and young adults. This position is responsible for developing, coordinating, supervising, and reviewing parish-wide, youth services activities, including programs, school visits, summer reading programs, projects, information handouts, etc. for the library system. This position is also responsible for related grant writing.
The applicant should have a good working knowledge of children's literature, strong interpersonal skills, with a commitment to excellent customer service, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while demonstrating tangible results of his/her work. The applicant should also be highly organized, have the ability to meet deadlines and have excellent verbal and writing skills. This position will work closely with other librarians throughout the library system and outreach services.
QUALIFICATION: A master's degree in library and information science from an ALA accredited library school is required. Youth services experience is preferred.
SALARY: $39,500 +, dependent upon experience.
