BIBLIOSTAT/STATISTICS TRAINING
Description: The web session will focus on the process for gathering the statistics, the definition of the items, and what happens after the State Library gathers them. There will be a brief discussion and demonstration of the federal sites comparative statistics features, and suggestions about how to best present statistics.

CATALOGING BASICS
Description: Are you ready to catalog?  This hands-on workshop will familiarize you with basic cataloging vocabulary and the most frequently used parts of a MARC record, and show you how to choose the correct MARC record to catalog the item in your hand.

DATABASE SEARCHING WORKSHOP
Description: This full-day workshop will teach you the tools of the trade for online searching.  The first half of the day will cover searching skills and concepts and show you how to get the most out of Google, the internet, and your own online catalog.  The second half of the day is devoted to applying these skills to the Louisiana Library Connection Databases.

DATABASE TRAINING: CAREER CRUISING
Description: This leading online career exploration and portfolio development system provides detailed occupation profiles, comprehensive post-secondary education information, and industry-leading assessments. Patrons are able to make concrete, long-term career and educational plans.  Career Cruising allows access to hundreds of detailed occupation profiles. The Career Matchmaker component is based on an internationally acclaimed interest assessment that is used and respected around the world, while the My Skills component matches patrons’ skills to careers. Personalized Feedback helps patrons understand how careers relate to their skills and interests. The user can input and store career and education related documents on the site and also create professional looking resumes.

DATABASE TRAINING: LEARNING EXPRESS
Description: The newly added Computer Skills module includes interactive tutorial courses and tests that are self-paced. This module presents material on Adobe Flash, Photoshop and Illustrator; Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Publisher, SharePoint Designer and Visio; Corel WordPerfect; and finally, Windows and Mac Operating Systems. Description: HomeworkLouisiana connects Louisiana K-12 students, adults preparing for the GED and college students to a live tutor online for one on one help with homework.
