The Collection
The TBBL collection contains big books, Braille books, digital books, large print books , and magazines that are available for all ages. The collection contains both children’s and adult fiction and non-fiction titles, including bestsellers, biographies, romances, mysteries, westerns, and foreign language titles.
TBBL has a contract with the Utah State Library for the Blind and Disabled for the loan of over 50,000 Braille books. Any of our library patrons who can read Braille can use the Utah State Library’s Braille collection. Once the TBBL application process is complete, a Utah State Library staff person will work with you on the ordering process. TBBL has a growing collection of digital books on cartridges. Digital titles are available in the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled catalog. You can identify digital books by the prefix “DB”. Note that many digital books may be available for download only using the Braille and Audio Reading Download program. The BARD program is an NLS free digital book download service. More than 100,000 digital books and over 40 magazine titles are available with new digital books added weekly. An online application form is required to download BARD books.
Magazines are available to eligible patrons free of charge. Magazines come to you directly and are shipped in a mailing container. Web-Braille is a free Braille book and magazine delivery service available through the Internet as a part of NLS's BARD service. With Web-Braille, you can go onto the Internet and download your own copy of a book in Braille. There are more than 5,400 titles available for download.
